Hi,I would request you to place the computer in clean boot and check if it helps.A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program.Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.Disclaimer: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.Thank you.
Hi all,One day, for no apparent reason, my Windows Live Mail decided it wouldn't start no matter what I did. After searching this and other resources, and trying the suggested solutions, I finally came up with my own. This is what worked for me, hope it helps someone else:1.
Aug 10, 2015 Windows 10 Mail app will not open. Three days after what appeared to be a smooth upgrade from Windows 8.1, I experienced a problem with complete loss of Start screen, Start button and Search was also none active. Mail and Calendar Apps won't open in Software and Apps. When I upgraded my wife's PC I expected her Windows Live Mail.

I had a look at the log files, located here: C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalMicrosoftWLSetupLogsThey all seemed to start OK but then hang at the same place. The last line in the log file said 'Cert:00000900 ( 20:12:10.094) Verifying signature of file=C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalWindows Live.cacheLOO5rDp5hbmHg5sboPPgQ2mUlhc=.' So I deleted the whole C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalWindows Live.cache folder. Restarted my PC and tried once more. Live Mail was 'Live' again!
I realize this thread is very old - however this morning I began experiencing a similar problem with WLM on my Windows 7 64-bit system.WLM opened the first time, but when I tried to open it again nothing happened and I could not get it to start. A Google search for this issue returned a number of links - however this one was marked 'SOLVED' so I came here first.I followed the stops provided by vaelico, and am happy to report it worked for me as well and solved the problem - and WLM now opens faster than ever.I do have one thing to add though. After deleting the log files, rebooting my system and running WLM, I decided to try an experiment and restored those files from the recycle bin.
To my surprise, WLM continued to run normally, and is still doing so with those files having been restored. That being the case, I'm thinking the problem might have been caused by a hangup between the WLM exe program and those files - and by deleting them, even temporarily, it broke the hangup.Really appreciate that Seven Forums maintains these threads, because they are still helpful years later. Similar help and support threadsThreadForumI am at my wits end, I cannot open links in Windows Live, yesterday I could. I uninstalled new anti-virus and am not very good at file associations as I am NOT a techie type ( 68 years old ) but it is critical I get this fixed.
