Nov 05, 2017 Made by small russian team of modders under the command of project leader Trazege, Returning 2.0 is completely overhauling whole game in lore-friendly way, adds dozens of. When you get go out of the castle and go where there were 2 guards in gothic 1. You turn left and there are 2 dead knights.inside.When you go further he is there.
I know that some of you, still consider these games as new (even me ), but it's almost 2 decades since Gothic 1 and Morrowind were released. So, I hope it's the right thread for this games (even they are not Amiga games (yet )), and if not, let mod move it to appropriate thread.-So, witch one do you favor, and why?We are comparing Gothic 1,2 (maybe 3) VS Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. For me, undoubtedly - Gothic.Even the oldest Gothic 1 (imho) beats the newest Elder Scrolls (Skyrim) in every single aspect, except graphics. The way how characters in Gothic are realistic and cool, the way quest unfold, the way how the environment design told the story, and how game forbids you to enter some area in smart ways.Fight. For some reason, some people say that the Gothic had a bad fight system. For me, it was still the best system I ever saw in any rpg so far. Almost feels like Mortal KombatWhile in Elder Scrolls you need to stupidly left click instantly, and occasionally hit the block. In Gothic is a perfect balance of reflexes and strategy. That's why I not included Gothic 3 at the title.
They screw up the fightning system, making it more like Elder Scrolls, and abandoning awesome system from Gothic 1 and 2.I am still looking for an rpg similar to Gothic. Witcher 3 had some cool things, but still, far from amazing stuff from Gothic 1 and 2. I've tried pretty hard to get into Gothic and Gothic 2, but I felt that the games were inferior to Morrowind in absolutely every aspect. Uninspired setting, boring characters, poorly written dialogue, messy and wierd looking graphics, certainly inferior soundtrack and confusing UI. I should say MORE confusing UI, as all of these games have rather poor UI's in my opinion.Morrowind on the other hand grabbed me instantly and I sank more then 300 hours into that game. I've stuck with the elder scrolls since, but I think the series high point so far is Oblivion.I might have to give the Gothic games another spin, but in my mind there is no comparing the two series.
Did you play Vampire Bloodlines? This one tops Gothic 2 for me. (incredible story, and atmosphere).Yeah, of course.Thou, it was very long time a go, and I remember it as a masterpiece. I finished it, I remember that, and after 1 or 2 years I started playing Gothic.Yes, when I think of it. Vampire is closest in atmosphere feel as Gothic.I must replay this masterpiece.Did you played Gothic 2 DirectX 11 version? Not only hugely increased graphics, they changed the overall difficulty of the game, so it's like 10 times harder then regular Gothic 2 + expansion. And I've managed to finish it (huh.
I laugh when I remember how proud I was when finishing just 'night of the raven'). Confusing UI.This.And this is true. Gothic have (at first play) very confusing UI (no mouse)But once you're get used to it, you feel like there's no absolutely better way to play these games. As for all other stuff you mentioned between Morrowind and Gothic, let me say this: I finished Morrowind, and bearelly realised that.I went to Red Mountain. Kill some guys in the cave. And that was it?Morrowind (and all Elder Scrolls games) are most dull, empty, uncharismatic games that I ever played. One thing I'd like to give up to Morrowind is it's outstanding environment.
Dark, green forest, with trees like mushrooms, amazing design, and amazing atmosphere. However, with characters like dolls, quests that are always go from A to B, and plenty space you run without encountering anyone important, was one of the most boring experiences I ever had. Didn't know about this version, that's great.I was waiting to forget a bit about Gothic 2 before replaying it again.Be well prepared before playing this.Skill points are so hugely wasted on skills, that you can only pick one skill.I've picked to be a wizard (probably hardest) and finished it.Prices are way higher, and sell/buy ratio is insane (for example, you buy a sword for 150 and sell for 3)There's also a some slight environment changes. You'll see.But all in all.
And the graphics are great. These past few week, I am replaying G1 already.@AnubisFew tips:Don't get discouraged by the weird UI. Once you get the hang of it, you will see how awesome it is.Backspace is Invertory, CRTL is 'use', 1 is drawing sword, 2 is drawing bow. And not holding up, and pressing constantly ctrl (like in similar games)Also, you must HOLD crtl, and press up, if you want to pick something from the ground, or search dead body. This should give you pretty easy start.Good luck, and let us now how it's going.
